We are delighted to celebrate the success of a group of students from UTC Plymouth, one of our Trust schools, who recently took part in the ‘Are We Included?’ programme - an outstanding initiative led by the University of Plymouth and Marjon University.
This collaborative programme focuses on boosting confidence, promoting inclusion, and raising aspirations for young people across the city. It offers students a meaningful glimpse into higher education, and encourages them to consider ambitious futures that may have once felt out of reach.
The experience culminated in a fantastic Celebration Event hosted at the University of Plymouth, where students were immersed in a day of engaging activities, including:
-
A fun and informative presentation on university life
-
“Myth buster” games and celebrity-degree guessing challenges
-
A guided campus tour showcasing student facilities and opportunities
-
A fascinating talk on dentistry and hands-on basic lifesaving skills, delivered by current medical students
-
A formal certificate presentation to acknowledge each student’s participation and engagement
Throughout the programme, the students of UTC Plymouth demonstrated curiosity, maturity, and enthusiasm. They represented their school and the Trust with pride, and fully embraced the opportunity to explore what university life could look like for them.
We are incredibly proud of their engagement and attitude, and we extend our sincere thanks to the dedicated teams at the University of Plymouth and Marjon University for making this experience so impactful.
At the heart of our Trust’s mission is a belief in equity, opportunity, and ambition for every learner - and this initiative embodies those values perfectly. Programmes like ‘Are We Included?’ are vital in supporting social mobility and helping students to visualise exciting pathways beyond school.
We look forward to building on these relationships and continuing to champion opportunities that help every young person believe in - and achieve - their full potential.
